MAY EVENTS

FRIDAY 3RD MAY – CAMPFIRE CLUB: ALASDAIR ROBERTS | AVOCET

Time: 7pm

Campfire Club is back! The Nest Collective will be in the garden for a series of unamplified performances around the campfire this summer. Come down to get up close and personal, and hear the artists’ music in a very intimate way.

Things to note: It can get chilly in the garden at night, so please bring along a jumper/coat. You may also want to bring a picnic blanket or rug to sit on. There will be a cash bar. There aren’t any cash machines near, so please bring some along with you.

Alasdair Roberts

Scottish singer, guitarist, and musical collaborator Alasdair Roberts is multiple award winning solo artist, a gifted interpreter of traditional songs, a songwriter/composer, and one quarter of critically acclaimed folk outfit The Furrow Collective.

Alasdair is one of a rare breed of musicians whose work has found favour with aficionados of both experimental/avant-garde music and traditional/folk music – as such, he has been the cover star of both Wire Magazine (March 2010) and fRoots Magazine (October 2003 and January/February 2017).

Avocet

Avocet is a musical trio from Scotland, based in Glasgow. Drawing inspiration from both the psychedelic folk scene alive in Britain during the 1960’s and 70’s, and free form blues, they create their own compositions on harp, guitar, double bass and vocals. Their music has been compared to that of artists like like Nick Drake, Pentangle, and John Martyn.

EVERY SUNDAY – BEE GROUP

Time: 12.30pm

The bee group will be meeting weekly! Come join, see the bees and learn something new. Please have your legs covered. We have hoods to borrow.

EVERY SUNDAY – OPEN WORKDAY

Time: 1-4pm

Come and help us maintain the garden – planting, cutting back the wild bits, tidying and repairing the site. Share your skills, learn something new and meet the locals.

EVERY MONDAY – LITTLE GARDENERS

Time: 10am-1pm

A free, self-led group for parents, carers and their little ones (babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers all welcome) that takes place at the garden every Monday. Come and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the garden. Plant and pick fruit and vegetables and help keep the garden watered and full of life. Explore all the wildlife and spot frogs, fish, creepy crawlies and the beehives.

Things to note: Bring appropriate clothes for outdoor play including waterproofs and wellies if it’s wet or muddy and warm clothes if it’s cold. Bring food for a picnic and a picnic blanket if it’s dry (otherwise there are covered benches). There is plenty of space to park buggies and bikes undercover. Tea and coffee can be provided for parents and carers. Toilet and hand washing facilities on site. The site is a working community garden with tools, building materials, and non-edible plants. We make every effort to keep the site tidy and safe but your child is your responsibility so you must keep a close watch on them.
